If you are looking for a dedicated audio engineer for your Solo, Dual Solo (split POV) or Duet audiobook projects, use this calculator to estimate your post-production budget across three production tiers, and then get in touch!
NECESSARY DETAILS
Important Note on Source Material
Since Punch & Roll is the industry standard for pros, this calculator assumes your files are delivered clean, with performance mistakes already removed and character lines clearly separated by clicker or clap markers.
If you do not use Punch & Roll and prefer to deliver fully raw, unedited audio — no problem! However, an ad hoc calculation will be required to cover the extra editing time.
Proofing & Pickups:
Proofing: Many clients prefer to handle proofing on their end (e.g., using Pozotron) and only require Mastering and File Assembly. If this applies to your project, simply use the corresponding field in the Summary section.
Pickups: This estimate includes two rounds of pickup integration: one after the initial proofing (or Pozotron report) and one after the author’s final review.
A Note on PFH Rates
Many people prefer to benchmark projects by PFH. Although my calculator offers a far more convenient way to estimate your actual budget, if you need a standard PFH reference, the range used here varies from $30 (simple mastering) to $120 PFH (complex multicast work).
| Solo or split POV (punch-n-roll required) | Mastering $30 | Mastering + Proofing $50 |
| Simple Duet (mixed scenes, punch-n-roll required) | Mastering + Assembly $75 | Mastering + Assembly + Proofing $100 |
| Multicast (3+ narrators, mixed scenes, punch-n-roll required) | Mastering + Assembly $100 | Mastering + Assembly + Proofing $120 |
And here we go! Below are three calculator options. Please select the one that best matches your project requirements.
